I walk past the Bulls head crossroads most nights to walk my dog and have been watching with interest as a nest near the cenataph has gone from one egg  to I think twelve, But tonight I am sad to say there was a young boy there with two young girls giggleing,he looked as he was going to drop a dinner fork on to the nest, prongs first but as I got closer I realized the poor female duck was sitting on the nest, as I was watching him he and the two silly girls he was with walkeda way (after deciding he couldn't climb down to the nest) he and they were obviously old enough to know better, so I am asking if everyone could keep an eye out otherwise I don't give much hope for the ducklings survival

Yes I too have seen the nest and eggs, it is in a vulnerable position from above but fairly safe from natural predators. Its a busy footpath by the site and it would be nice if people would keep an eye on the safety of the nest.  Surprisingly perhaps, there is usually a brood of ducks most years just around the site despite the presence of inquisitive youngsters. Lets hope they hatch off their eggs successfully this year, they cant be far off hatching now.
