Getting There

Barrowden lies directly south of the A47. with main access roads being Morcott Road and Luffenham Road. Church Lane is in the southwest of the village, just off Main Street.

Roadside parking is available in the village, but please be mindful of residents and signage.

There is a bus stop close to the site.

Description

Designated a Local Wildlife Site in 2004, the site is a narrow grass verge that opens onto wider slopes and stretches of grassland comprising the village green. A stone-lined duck pond has been dug in part of it.

Wildlife Highlights

Notable species recorded at this site include Autumn Hawkbit, Rough Hawkbit, Bulbous Buttercup, Red Clover and Hoary Plantain.

In addition, the rare Fiddle Dock has been recorded at this site (on the village green).
