Barrowden Seaton Road Verge

Barrowden is just south of the A47. Take Morcott Road from the A47 towards Barrowden, then turn sharply right onto Seaton Road. The verge is roughly 300 metres down this road.
Some roadside parking is available in the village, but please be mindful of residents and traffic.

Total species seen at this site:
Designated a Local Wildlife Site in 2005, Seaton Road verge is 94 metres in length, and 1-2 metres in depth between the tarmac and a hedgerow. The main recorded habitats are grassland and tall herbs, and although generally species-poor, the site does support Danewort, a Red Data Book species.
There is an approximately 40-metre long, 1-metre wide stretch of thickly growing Danewort Sambucus ebulus beneath the hedgerow.
Other recorded species include: Cow Parsley, False Oat-grass, Field Bindweed, Dogwood, Hawthorn, Cock's-foot, Common Couch, Cleavers, Perennial Rye-grass, Smaller Cat's-tail, Ribwort Plantain, Rough Meadow-grass, Elder, and Common Nettle.
Dwarf Elder Sambucus ebulus is another unusual plant found here.
