The Mound is a man-made grassy hill with an area of about 1.2 Ha. It conceals what was a WWII munitions storage facility constructed from reinforced concrete and which is still exists beneath the grass. The site is within the Jubilee Playing Field, an area donated by the developer to East Goscote Parish Council for village sport and leisure activities. The Parish Council has agreed to reduce the mowing schedule on the sloping sides and top of The Mound to bring about an improvement in biodiversity. This may be supplemented by seeding and plug planting. The Greener Goscote Community Group will be assisting with the project.
