Empingham Exton Road Verge
Selected Wild Place / Other Wild Places / Public Rights of Way / VC55 boundary
Exton Road connects the villages of Exton and Empingham, and the verge is towards the Empingham end, close to the A606.
From the A606, turn onto Main Street in Empingham, and then onto Exton Road. The site begins 100 metres or so up this road.
There is some roadside parking available in Empingham village, but please be mindful of residents and signage.

Designated a Local Wildlife Site in 2011, Exton Road verge is mainly calcareous and mixed grassland, and both sides of the verge are around 500 metres in length. The western verge is approximately 2 metres wide, and the eastern verge is approximately one metre wide.
Recorded species include: Agrimony, Greater Knapweed, Field Scabious, Restharrow, Hoary Plantain, Salad Burnet, Small Scabious, Black Knapweed, Lady’s Bedstraw and Common Bird’s-foot Trefoil.
