Does anybody else have the same problem that I do? - Namely that when I attach photos to my submissions, they are often displayed rotated.  For example, in the attached photo, of a submission of what may, or may not(!), be a charcoal burner fungus, one photo is upside down and the other two are on their side.  They were all the right way up on my computer!  Many thanks for any feedback on this...

It may depend on how you are holding your camera or phone when you are taking the photo. If you're using a phone, you can rotate images by editing them on the phone before you submit.

My understanding is that when you change the orientation of your phone or camera, it doesn't save a rotated image; instead it saves the image as it detected it, with a code in the accompanying EXIF data to record what the orientation was.  Most software takes account of the code to turn the image upright for display but perhaps the software behind Naturespot does not.

I have only occasionally had the problem.  That might be because I usually edit my images before uploading them and the editing software saves a new copy of the edited image in its correct orientation.

Like you, Peter, I only occasionally have the problem.  I think I have nothing to worry about, because the photos are all displayed the right way up on Naturespot now.   I should stress that before adding photos on the Submit New Records screen, I always ensure that they are the right way up.  It seems that they may appear rotated on the submission screen itself but once submitted, they revert to being the right way up. But next time the issue occurs, I shall make sure that happens...
