The Coppery Long-horn Moth has arrived in Leicestershire. More...
Coppery Long-horn Moths, Nemophora cupriacella, have a patchy UK distribution, which is a bit odd since their caterpillar foodplant, Scabious, is quite widespread. This parthenogenetic moth (males are unknown) has been spotted twice in the space of three days this year, in sites widely distributed across Leicestershire. Whatever the reason for its appearance, we welcome this beautiful new addition to our County fauna. It can be identified from good photos so please keep your eyes peeled!
