Found on an Alder leaf three days ago. Soft and fluffy texture like cotton wool. Closer inspection revealed tiny cream coloured larvae inside.

Still struggling with an ID, I posted this on the Insects and other Invertebrates of Britain and Europe FB group. I received a suggestion that my unidentified object is the spun cocoon of braconid larvae.
