Purple Swamp Brittlegill - Russula nitida
Description
Cap 2 to 6 cm, soon depressed at centre, with strongly sulcate margin, purple, vinaceous, ochreous or brownish; gills medium spaced, cream, then ochre, sometimes with red edge near cap margin; stem white, often reddish at the base.

Broad-leaved woodland often with Birch.

Late summer and autumn.
