Epicaecilius pilipennis
Description
A small (around 2 to 3 mm), dark barkfly with both brachypterous (short-winged) and macropterous (long-winged) forms. Macropterous specimens have dark wings which usually have four distinct colourless patches. All forms of the species can readily be distinguished from Valenzuela piceus and other species by the two light patches on the back of the dark brown head (vertex).
