Right of way can be accessed from the A50; from Gynsill Lane by the new housing develoment,;from anstry or by permissive path through the sports ground.

 

The 125 bus runs down Gynsill Lane

A public right of way leaves the A50, facing the Shell Station, and follows a stream through mature woodlands until it enters land owned by the Parish Council.

Description

This wildlife corridor follows the Rothley Brook flowing towards Anstey. A stream joins the Brook beside the sports ground and the land between has been planted with shrubs. It has mown paths which provide good access. The watercourse is bordered by shrubs and mature trees but has an open aspect in places, with farmland to the west and the sports fields to the east. A path through it continues along the brookside beyond the parish and under the A46 towards Anstey.

Wildlife Highlights

Although not seen for some time, Water Voles and White-clawed Crayfish were once present. Otters have passed through and Jays nest nearby.

Latest News

Tawny Owl boxes, blackbird-sized box and an all seasons bat roost box and have been installed in the trees and sparrow, house martin and bat boxes have been fitted to the neighbouring sports ground.
