NatureSpot wants records for all wild plants species, either growing in the wild or as weeds - here's how you can help.

We collect records of all wild plants species, including:

    • Established native wild plants originating from deliberate planting or sowing in the wild, e.g. as part of a conservation project
    • Non-native plants that have become ‘naturalised’ (supporting itself in the wild, without cultivation or help from humans), e.g. by escaping from gardens or originating from bird-seed or animal fodder
    • Long-established individuals of non-native species such as large planted trees.

To assist you, we've written a new guide to plant recording which is available in the Wildlife Recording menu at the top of every page. This includes help on how to identify plants. You don't have to be an expert botanist and unlikely spots including urban settings can produce surprising records, so if you've never done any plant recording before, this is the ideal time to get started!
