Hi

I took this photo of a fly on a kale plant.  I thought it was probably a fruit fly or a picture-winged fly, but I can't find it on NatureSpot.  Anyone with the right books got any ideas?

I've added a side view, though it's not a good photo.

Hi Simon,

It's Tephritis formosa: https://www.naturespot.org.uk/species/tephritis-formosa

An almost solid dark band across the middle of the wing with just a 'chip' out of the leading edge is a good pointer to this species.
