Want to watch wildlife and save money at the same time? More...

Grizzled veterans like me can remember a time when a trail camera to capture wildlife would set you back 500 quid. Word has just reached NatureSpot that now you can do the same ting for a tenth of the cost. The new generation of video doorbells (such as Ring - other video doorbells are available) are being used as wildlife cameras. They have motion detection and HD resolution (something that an expensive trailcam lacked back in the day). All you need to do is place one where you want it - inside your nestbox or hedgehog feeder for example - and sit back to watch the wildlife on your mobile phone. There is one catch - the camera needs to be within range of your wifi, but as modern wifi stations get ever more powerful, you'll find the signal extends beyond your house anyway. Give it a go and send us the pictures!
