I'm originally from the Yorkshire Dales but lived in Leicester for 25 years before moving to the Asfordby area earlier this year. I'm a part-time, distance learning student studying MSc Sustainability and Ecology through the Welsh Institute of Sustainable Education (WISE) at The Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) near Machynlleth in Mid Wales.
My main interest is in landscape scale ecosystem restoration, but mostly focus on birds, insects and flowers as a Volunteer Biodiversity Surveyor for the RSBP in Charnwood. My undergrad thesis was on freshwater macroinvertebrates in the River Biam, Aylestone Meadows, Leicester and I'm currently developing my MSc dissertation on autumn/winter/spring pollination of gorse in Leicestershire. I've used Nature Spot many times in my studies, but have only just got around to joining and hope to be more involved in the future.
