Two different shots of a red-legged female Bibio sp., but I'm stumped as to whether it can be identified to species level - could it be one of B. varipes, B. lanigerus or B. johannis? Perhaps it's the pale orangey underside that is confusing me?  From the QE2 wood at Nomanton.  Any help gratefully appreciated!

It's not possible to ID most Bibio species from an image, they need to be keyed. I key to Bibio is available on request from Mike Hackston.
