At all stages of adult life, Great Crested newts have lovely orange toenails - makes them the easiest species to identify

Hello,

This newt was photographed near our compost heap in our garden at Grafham after moving a tarpaulin away that was covering it.

Am I correct in thinking that this is a Great Crested Newt?  Female?

I should have looked at its belly, but I didn't want to disturb it at the time.  The ends of its toes are orange.

Thank you

Stuart
