Xestophanes potentillae

A plant gall worth looking for now are the nodules caused by the wasp Xestophanes potentillae on the stolons, roots and lower stem of Creeping Cinquefoil. More...

We have very few records for this species. The galls can be found on plants growing in the angle between kerb/wall and ground, where the cinquefoil forms a loose mat that can be pulled up without uprooting it or too much grubbing about. More records welcome - it may be having a good year!
