The white cap is 20 to 30 cm across when full grown and very fleshy with fine, crowded concolorous fibrils. There is only slight yellow staining in this species. Gills are dense, pinkish colour becoming dark brown to blackish brown.
Late summer and autumn.
Widespread in England.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
