Anemone Smut - Urocystis anemones
The fungus Urocystis anemones affects various members of the anemone family especially Wood Anemone (Anemone nemorosa), causing blister like swellings beneath the epidermis which rupture to produce black spores.

Whenever host plants such as Wood Anemone are in leaf.
Widespread and probably fairly frequent in Britain, although not well recorded.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
