Aphrodes
Aphrodes species generally have a sharply pointed vertex which always has a median keel. They can be very variable with distinct forms occurring in different habitats. Females in particular are often difficult to identify. Detailed examination of the specimen is needed to identify to species level and a photograph alone is not normally sufficient. Where microscopic examination has not taken place specimens should be recorded to this page.
Unless identified by a recognised expert, a photo is required. Please also see the comments under ‘Description’.
This genus utilises a whole range of host plants.
Usually seen in summer and autumn.
The genus is widespread in Britain.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
