Aulagromyza populicola
The larva forms an elongated blotch mine on the leaves of some Poplar species including Lombardy Poplar. The pupation is outside the mine, and the puparium often sticks out of the semi-circular exit slit in the mine.
See the National Agromyzidae Recording Scheme webpage on this species for further details of larva, adult insect and host plants
Aulagromyza populi, Aulagromyza tremulae. Contrary to previous advice, A populi has been reared from very similar mines, with pupariation outside the mine. The species can now only be determined by rearing the adult.

The leaf-mine can only be recorded if the adult has been reared to confirm the species.
Where Poplars, the larval host species are present.
