The larva of the fly Aulagromyza populicola forms an elongated blotch mine on the leaves of some Poplar species including Lombardy Poplar
Where Poplars, the larval host species are present.
The larval mines may be seen when the host species of Poplar are in leaf.
True status in Britain is difficult to determine due to lack of records, but it seems to be rather infrequently recorded.
