Berytinus hirticornis
7 to 11 mm. Berytinus species are characterised by the short 2nd antennal segment (less than the length of the club on the 1st segment) and by the short hind femora, which do not reach the apex of the corium. In B. hirticornis the 1st antennal segment has long erect hairs (> width of the segment). Note that these are not always easy to see. The clubs of the 1st antennal segment and femora are pale.

Associated with a range of plants in dry grasslands.
All year round.
Previously rare and known only from Devon; in recent years it has become much more widespread and is common in parts of the south-east.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
