Description

A short to medium yellowish brown plant. Stem erect, without leaves but with scale like sheaths overlapping. Flowers numerous, in a spike like raceme, rather sickly scented yellowy brown.

Saprophytic.

UK Status

Widespread but uncommon in Britain.

VC55 Status

Rare in Leicestershire and Rutland. In the 1979 Flora survey of Leicestershire it was not found.

It is on the current VC55 Rare Plant Register (Jeeves 2011)
