Bitter Chocolate Rust - Uromyces ficariae
A rust fungus affecting Lesser Celandine (Ficaria verna). There is no host plant alternation and only the chocolate-brown telia are present on raised swollen areas of leaves and petioles, causing galls.
May be encountered wherever Lesser Celandine (Ficaria verna) is present.
Spring and early summer.
Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
