Spirogyra adnate is a filamentous freshwater algae forming green slimy masses on the water surface.
Freshwater habitats, particularly ponds and other small bodies of still water.
Usually prolific during spells of warm, bright weather.
It is difficult to give the status for this species in Britain due to the fact that it is rarely reliably identified to species level, however it is thought to be widespread and fairly frequent
