A medium sized (3 to 4mm) barkfly with some dark wing shading.

Habitat

In Leicestershire and Rutland this species has been found 10 times on walls and masonry in various churchyards, usually on walls with sparse lichen cover.

Previously described as uncommon nationally, but VC55 records suggest that it may well be a case of under recording (see VC55 status below).

Up to the end of 2014 the species has been found at 10 churchyard sites in Leicestershire and Rutland.
