Centrotus cornutus


    Length about 10 mm. One of only two UK treehoppers. The other species, Gargara genistae is associated with broom. It is smaller than C. cornutus, lacks the horn-like projections on the pronotum and has a shorter dorsal spine.


    On a range of plants in woodland rides and similar habitats.

    When to see it

    Adult: April-August.

    UK Status

    Widespread but local in England and Wales.

    VC55 Status

    Infrequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
