Cinnamon Porecrust - Phellinus ferreus
Description
Initially forming small cushions 1 to 2 mm across which are cinnamon-yellow, later fusing and becoming cinnamon brown. Flesh rusty brown.
Identification difficulty

Habitat
On dead branches of deciduous wood, especially hazel.
When to see it
All year round.
Life History
Causes an intensive white rot which rapidly destroys the wood.
UK Status
Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.

Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland.
