Clover Seed Weevil - Protapion apricans
Size 2.2 to 2.7 mm. A small black weevil with yellow legs. There are other similar species which make correct identification to species level difficult and detailed examination is needed.

Clover rich meadows.
March to November, but peaking May to July.
Feeds on the flowers of Clover (especially Trifolium pratense).
Widespread and fairly frequent especially in the southern half of Britain.
Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
