Coccidula rufa
Description
This small (3 to 5 mm) beetle is a dull blood red with a darker central area behind the pronotum.

Habitat
Associated with rushes and reeds especially bulrush, but by no means restricted to these.
When to see it
Spring to autumn.
UK Status
Widespread and locally frequent in Britain.
VC55 Status
Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 388 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
