Quite a large (over 15 mm) millipede with eyes: it is reddish brown with light mottling.
Associated with woodland areas, particularly those with high humidity.
All year round, but most records have been from the colder months.
This species appears to be widely distributed across Britain and Ireland but is not common.
Uncommon in Leicestershire and Rutland. The record from Bradgate Park on 10th November 2014 is only the second record for VC55.
