Dead-nettle Leaf Beetle - Chrysolina fastuosa

Description

Body length 5 to 6 mm. A stunning beetle which is usually metallic green with blue, red and gold banding.

On Dead-nettles and Hemp-nettles.

When to see it

March to December.

UK Status

Widespread, but quite local in Britain.

VC55 Status

Local and infrequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were approximately 22 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015, but the Wigston Parva record of 7th May 2016 is the first VC55 record since 1989.
