A crustose lichen. Quite variable. White, pale or dark grey thallus, apothecia often pruinose with thin grey margins.
Good photographs required, and expert confirmation may be necessary.
On calcareous rocks and mortar, also recorded from nutrient-enriched, basic-barked trees.
All year round.
Widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
