Ditomyia fasciata


    This is a medium sized rather long legged fungus gnat. The wings have wide bands of dark markings and the body appears banded in black and pale orange.

    Identification difficulty

    Well wooded areas especially around its chosen foodplants.

    When to see it

    Spring and summer.

    Life History

    Its foodplants are limited to the Polypore fungi.

    UK Status

    Most records seem to come from south-eastern England.
