A fly of about 4 or 5 mm length it has a bottle green/ sea green abdomen and thorax with rather yellow or orangey legs.
Grassland, gardens and post industrial sites.
May to August.
Feeds on midges and other small insects.
Fairly widespread in Britain. The majority of records seem to come from Wales and the west of England.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
