Dolichopus ungulatus


    This is a small hairy legged fly with a metallic looking green thorax and bronze-green abdomen. There are many similar members of this family and expert help is needed in order to identify the species.

    Damp habitats, wet grassland, woodland edge, scrub and hedgerows.

    May to July.
