Edwardsiana geometrica
Length around 4 mm. Perhaps the most difficult of all leafhopper genera, with 21 UK species, of which only two are easily identified; the other 19 cannot be identified based on external features alone. E. geometrica is one of the few that can be distinguished without microscopy. A very strikingly-marked species, and the dark stripe along the corial-claval suture is diagnostic. The ground colour varies from whitish to yellow.
May be found on Alder.
Adult: June-October.
Widespread in Britain, but not normally common. Perhaps absent from the extreme north.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
