Description
Tergites 2 and 3 are a bright brick red.

Habitat
Sandy areas predominantly open grassland and edges of scrub and woodland.
When to see it
Early May to late June.
Life History
The species is well known to be strongly associated with speedwells but it forages from many other plants.
UK Status
Very local and mainly coastal it is found throughout southern England to north Yorkshire and Wales. Possibly increasing in numbers.
VC55 Status
Uncommon in Leicestershire and Rutland.
