Green Hairstreak - Callophrys rubi

Description

It gets its name from the green hue found on the underside of the hindwings, which are peppered with large silver spots. The forewings are orangey in colour with dark spots.

There is one generation each year.

UK Status

This butterfly can be found throughout the British Isles, especially in coastal areas, but is local in distribution.

VC55 Status

Rather infrequent and localised in Leicestershire and Rutland.
