Grynobius planus


    Length about 4 mm. A small wood boring beetle with a dark tan, deeply studded elytra. The last three segments of the antennae are much longer than the others.

    Identification difficulty

    Well wooded areas.

    When to see it

    End of April onwards.

    UK Status

    Fairly frequent and widespread in the southern half of Britain.

    VC55 Status

    Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 13 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
