Harpalus rubripes


    A medium-sized (8.5 to 12 mm) ground beetle which may be green or black in colour.

    Identification difficulty

    Often found on dry or gravelly ground with sparse vegetation such as post industrial sites.

    When to see it

    March to September, peaking from April to June.

    UK Status

    Widespread but local in England and Wales.

    VC55 Status

    Very localised in Leicestershire and Rutland probably due to its preferred habitat. There were a total of 34 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
