Hypogastrura manubrialis
Approximately 1mm in length, dark in colour. Each tibiotarsus only has one clavate tenant seta and the empodium of the foot tapers gradually and does not possess a lamella. The mucro is distinctively long and pointed.

Detailed high magnification microscopic examination required to confirm this species.
Most records are from compost and rich organic matter. In VC55 it has been observed grazing on lichens in wet weather.
All year round.
This is a common and widespread species.
Under-reported due to identification difficulties.
