This lichenicolous fungus (a fungus which is a parasite on lichens) is readily seen due to its red colour.
Anywhere that the host lichens are found.
Parasitic on the lichen Phscia tenella and sometimes also on Xanthoria parietina.
Seems to be widespread and fairly frequent in Britain.
Status in Leicestershire and Rutland not known.
