Description

This family of water beetles is related to the ground beetles, but are much modified for life in water.

Adults and larvae are fiercely carnivorous.

UK Status

Fairly frequent and widespread in much of Britain except the extreme north.

Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 30 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
