Lype phaeopa


    Forewing length 4 to 6 mm. This is a fairly plain brown caddis. It is similar to other species and detailed examination is necessary for a safe id.

    Identification difficulty

    Mainly rivers and large streams, but may come to light.

    May to September.

    Fairly frequent and widespread in Britain.

    Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland.
