A small black weevil 2 to 3 mm in length with strongly ridged and pitted elytra.

Similar Species

Zacladus exiguus is very similar, but is only found on small flowered Geranium species, and is much rarer.

On Meadow Crane’s-bill and Bloody Crane’s-bill.

When to see it

July to September.

UK Status

Widespread in much of southern Britain in those areas where the food plants occur.

VC55 Status

Occasional in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 13 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
