A black sawfly that is about 5 to 6 mm long with a dark wing stigma.
This species has a red ID rating and unless identified by a known expert you must provide a satisfactory explanation of how it was identified for the record to be accepted.
Flower meadows containing buttercups.
April to June.
Larva feed on members of the buttercup family.
Widespread in England but not well recorded.
Status of this species in Leicestershire and Rutland is not known.
