Nematus lucidus


    The torpedo shaped abdomen gives it an unusual appearance when it is at rest.

    Hedgerows or near to larval food plants.

    When to see it

    April to June.

    Life History

    The larvae feed on Hawthorn and sometimes also Blackthorn.

    UK Status

    Fairly frequent and widespread in the southern half of Britain.

    Fairly frequent in Leicestershire and Rutland.
