Perapion curtirostre
Size 2 to 2.5 mm. A very small and usually elongate, black weevil. The elytra, pronotum, head and femora have whitish hairs. The rostrum is generally parallel-sided and not tapered.
Your specimen should have these features:
- 2-2.5mm
- all black (dark lead)
- head, thorax, elytra and femora with whitish hairs
- rostrum straight, not tapered
- pronotum fairly straight-sided (slightly wider in the middle)
- generally elongate (but can be variable)

Well vegetated areas where Rumex species are present.
This species develops in various Rumex species.
Common and widespread in Britain.
Fairly common in Leicestershire and Rutland. There were a total of 36 VC55 records for this species up to March 2015.
